Comment: Thank you for publishing an article on celiac disease. Awareness of this disease is key to the health of thousands of Americans who go undiagnosed. It took 4 years to get a proper diagnosis for my daughter. However, you grossly understated the amount of people it affects. The experts quote it as 1 in 130, not 1 in 10,000 (at least in the US and Canada)...big difference.I suggest contacting the Celiac Awareness Society, or Dr. Fasano at the University of Maryland, for more information. You could help save many lives. Thank you.

Comment: Re: Sept 27.Cover Story
Just thought Mr. Foran would like to know that there are five city high schools, not four. They are (in no particular order): Myer, Stamford, Westlane, St.Paul, St. Mike's.

Comment: The voting in favour of a 29 story condo on River Road is another step by the Niagara Falls Council members showing their lack of concern for the local citizens of Niagara Falls.
Thanks to them we will now welcome a new era of concrete walls instead of gardens and beautiful homes on the residential part of River Road

Comment: An open letter to your Mayor !
Our recent two day stay in your city has shown us that greed has replaced Hospitality.
The Falls themselves are a National Treasure, but to see them up close is impossible if you are nto willing to pay $12.00 to park your car. Whatever happened to the free parking that use to be there? Can you not get enough out of the Casinos without gouging the visitors? On the whole, we found everything to be overpriced and will spend our vacation dollars elsewhere in future.

Comment: I am writing in reference of an article published in the Niagara News on a local Veterinarian Dr. Steven Toejnes.
Our many pets have been patienes of Dr. Toejnes for atleast 15 years. Dr. Toejnes has on several occassions, normally on a Sunday evening has meet with me at his office with an ill cat or has talked to me over the phone about one of our dogs.
He has seen my pets on the spot without being told that they were completly booked that day.
He has listened to me cry over the phone and in his office when the enevitable of saying goodbye to one of beloved pets was in front of us, but still hoping for a miracle, not once interupting me or showing signs of looking at the clock, just reassuring that we were making the proper decission and when it came time to say goodbye to our beautiful dog of 13 years he came to our home so we would not have to take that final trip that we all hate to face for ourselves and our pets final memories. He has always been very honest talking about tests, procedures and vaccines, explaining what results they can show, what the out come could be and what would be the best for our pet, saving us from unnessary expenditures. Dr. Toejnes has always shown compassion and sincerity for our pets whether it be for their yearly visits, emergancies or sad times, and now we will return some of that back to him.
My pets will contineue to get good care from a Veterinarian that I truly feel cares for and loves animals and I will continue to recommend him to my friends for their pets needs

Comment: In the past, I have written letters about several topics. But the one topic which is obviously taboo is disability insurance.

Could someone please explain to me how someone who require coverage so badly due to injury or illness, gets nothing but a hard time and basically the one-finger salute. Whereas, someone who became addicted to a self-inflicted habit can easily get disability insurance from our province. For those not in the know, here is a little education. People that are addicted to illegal drugs can, by applying for help, not only receive the treatment(ie: methadone - a government sanctioned medication), but can also get free transportation to and from the location in which to get the treatment, "plus", receive Ontario Disability for as long as they require it! Don't get me wrong, I applaud all those who seek the treatment they need to get off the illegal drugs. Except for a couple of shortcomings

First, all this is paid for from our tax dollars.

Second, while this is happening our Government is cutting medical subsidies, forcing hospital closures, creating long waiting lists, etc. etc.

Thirdly, they are not only giving those who require the help from accident or illness(not self-inflicted)a hard time, they do in a lot of cases refuse to help

So, I ask again, since when does a self-inflicted addiction, not only gets paid for out of our tax dollars but takes priority over our hospitals, doctors, nurses and those in need(other than drug addicts?

Comment: We The People

When will the Liberal corruption cease...when that Big Government power machine is finally thrust over the minority government precipice where it now hovers...to a deservedly abysmal defeat.

The Liberal government can now be made responsible for their constant deceit and injustice in front of those they have long forgotten, the Canadian citizens, the Canadian taxpayers, the Canadian voters. We the people, hire! We the people, fire! You are fired Mr. Martin. You are hired Mr. Harper.

A strong Conservative affirmation, at the poles, will cleanse the putrid political atmosphere from years of Liberal control.

Comment: Re: p. monty
You know what a lot of people would like to tell you what to do with yourself and your BIBLE!!!
Read Numbers 31 and see for yourself there is no book on this planet that contains such violence against women, slaves, children etc....
Who said it is written by God?
Try to relax and enjoy your being.
